Lecture notes on Quantum Information Theory

These are some notes for the three lectures I have given at the Quantum Information Theory and Free Probability conference at NYU Abu Dhabi in January 2024.

  1. Introduction to quantum information theory
    I will introduce the basic notions of quantum information theory, drawing parallels and emphasizing differences with the classical information theory of Shannon [pdf].
  2. Quantum channels
    I will present the different equivalent characterizations of quantum channels [pdf].
  3. Classical capacity of quantum channels
    I will introduce the quantities appearing in the Holevo-Schumacher-Westmoreland formula for the classical capacity of quantum channels, such as the accessible information and the Holevo quantity [pdf].
